I think it's a fantastic invention. My one-year old is already trying to plug things in...I'd like to get the little ones out and get some big ones in. Kudos to the dad here, who took the initiative to make this happen.

"One day I removed a standard sized outlet safety plug, set it on the edge of the table and my one year old daughter grabbed it and stuck it into her mouth. She nearly suffocated. I saved her life.
After I saved my daughters life, I called the producers of these devices and asked them to change their plugs to be larger because they posed a choking hazard. They told me if I thought it was such a problem then I should do something about this. During this time same frame, my daughter handed me her pacifier and an idea came to me. A life saving idea, that is. So I researched US pacifier regulations and it turns out that pacifiers must be made larger than 1 3/4 inches in greatest diameter and contain at least two (2) ventilation holes located no closure than .2
inches to the outside edge and larger than .2 inches in diameter. They
challenged me to do something about this, so I am.
I invented SafetyCaps."
I wanted to first share the story of our featured company. Scary isn't it? I've thought about this issue so many times myself and wondered why someone didn't come up with a "safer" outlet plug. I always try and keep these out of the reach of my toddler because I was afraid that he would pick one up and put it into his mouth.
Finally someone has come along and invented a safer outlet plug. George DeCell started a company Safety Caps. George has fought long hard for his product to be regulated, even taking his battle to the Consumers Product Safety Commission who by the way said no. We're getting the word out on this product and ask you to do the same, for the safety of all small children.
Why are Safety Caps the better solution? Safety Caps measure 2 1/4" in diameter and include two small holes located on each side for added safety. It's ALWAYS best to keep small objects out of the way of small children no matter what it is, we want all children to be safe. This little safety product is so simple, yet potentially life saving. AND so easy...just plug it in! I've replaced all of my standard outlet plugs with Safety Caps. It's so easy for us to procastinate and think "aw yea, I'll get to it", take action now and change those plugs.
Help get the word out about Safety Caps by blogging about them or sending emails to Oprah and Ellen. Doesn't it just make sense?
