It's no secret that I love sweet treats and in fact sell my own bakery style items. It was love at first sight when I came across My Cakies. A shop after my own heart! "I have two little girls name Brave and True. Yes, their names are really Brave and True! They are the inspiration behind all I do, along with their stud muffin papi, my Benny!I have always enjoyed creating things since I was a little girl.

I remember when I would make my little brother Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle dolls out of brown paper bags... I would draw the characters, cut them out, color them, then staple around them and stuff them with cotton and "VOILA!" He had little stuffed TMNTs.

I have always had a love for making things out of anything...There is such satisfaction in the ability to think of something up in your head and then see it actually come to life!

Though, I have a love for art in all forms... I went into teaching after much debate between being an Art major or Child Development. I taught for a little and then when I popped out my first child, I knew that I just wanted to stay home. And thus, having a little girl re-ignited the artist within me.

Due to lack of funds and wanting something funky (come on a girl named True can't just be ordinary), I started experimenting with felt, fabrics, beads to come up with accessories and clothing that received a thumbs up from their funky, artistic daddy.

So here I am today, just slowly praying and dreaming up ideas for my little girls and ready to share with the other funky art folk out there.

My line is called Cakies because while both my daughters were in the womb, we could not think of/agree on a name, so we called them both Babycakies. Hence, we have Cakies... something sweet for the sweet one in your life."

Sugarbox Studio is an fabulous shop that hand dyes all of their items, which includes tees and onsies. All of their designs are original and are beyond compare!
Check out the complicated process they use to create one of their items:

First, we hand dye using our own color combo to get the perfect hue. We’ve even developed our own dye process for achieving a beautiful yet subtle layered look with some upcoming colors. And to get the shirts cuddle soft, an industrial strength fabric softener is used (no dyes or scents for sensitive skin).

Second, we print using environmentally friendly inks, again our own colors are mixed. Everything is hand drawn from our own creative minds, nothing is copied or traced.

Third, we sew a little something special made of ultrasuede to add dimension and boutique quality to the garment.

Each shirt is made with care and attention to detail and each shirt comes out as unique as the wee one who will be wearing it!

WOW! A lot of love and care for each one of their items. All of their clothing is from American Apparel which is a sweatshop free company. AND every purchase that is made, they will donate one baby gown or onsie to the local hospital's NICU unit. My daughter, Allison, originally created Lilybella, and I have worked with her behind the scenes in the roles of product design and sew contractor. My passion has always been sewing. My mother taught me to sew when I was a young girl and I have loved it ever since. As Allison became an adult with three young children, I taught her to sew, as my mother had me. and she grew to love it as much as I did. Our mutual passion is what enabled Lilybella to come about. We have had so much fun designing products that we love, for ourselves, and products for her children, i.e. my precious grandchildren. We have had a never ending source of inspiration from each of them. Unfortunately, my two adorable older grandsons, age 13 and 18 do not create quite as much inspiration for this particular line of products, but I love them just the same!

Allison has worked very hard to grow Lilybella and done a wonderful job doing so. We have always enjoyed working together and it has been a rewarding experience for both of us. Unfortunately, with three young children, it has become more and more difficult for Allison to continue on in a full time capacity. Creatively Inclined Moms is a collaboration of women who enjoy making items for children. Lyssa is one of the members and contributes with her talent, "Stuff Lyssa Makes".

Having recently begun the process of potty training my 2 1/2 year old son, I've been on the look-out for products that make the whole process easier on the both of us. Flippee is one such product. I was very excited to try out this product. Flippee is designed to "protect your toliet, walls and floor from accidents by creating a barrier." Having a daughter is one of the things I have always wanted in life...someone I could share "girly" things with like shopping, pedicures, dressing up and dancing. I was given the opportunity to review a newly released DVD titled Prima Princessa presents Swan Lake. I was very excited to watch this DVD. I grew up loving to watch dancing of all kinds and could often be seen dancing around my house. This DVD is unlike anything I've seen before. It was created by two moms, Stephanie Troeller and Mary Kate Mellow, who wanted to present ballet to their daughters in a way they would understand. This DVD teaches "classical ballet through nature, toys, music, and laughter." This DVD is broken into four sections, each section being an Act from Swan Lake. The ballet is performed by the Paris Opera Ballet and narrated by the cute, animated Prima Princessa. After each Act, a simple ballet step is introduced and it encourages audience participation.

My 8 month old, Miss Maddie (dressed in her tu-tu), and I watched this DVD together. I immediately fell in love and I think Miss Maddie enjoyed it, too. I can't wait for Miss Maddie to watch this as she grows up. I would recommend this DVD to anyone with a daughter. The simple and magical way this DVD presents Swan Lake will awaken the little girl in us all. This will be one DVD that will be in my daughter's collection for a very long time.
