I like that it has directions w/ pictures for kids to follow!

I love baking. This time of year, I'm usually busy baking some kind of holiday treats. I love trying to get my almost 3 year old to help. His favorite part is stirring and sampling the goodies when they are finished.

When I learned about Zebra Mix baking kits for kids, I thought it was a neat idea. Who wouldn't like a fun way to get kids involved in the baking process? I received the Zebra Cupcake and Frosting Kit to try out with my son. Upon opening the box, I discovered not only easy to follow directions but a full color baking map that explains everything in a way that's easy for kids to follow. There are two sets of directions, one for younger children (ages 4-9) and one for older children (ages 9+). Even non-readers will be able to follow the step-by-step picture directions. My son really enjoyed looking at the colorful pictures in the directions. He helped me add ingredients and stir the cupcake mixture. While we were waiting for the cupcakes to bake, Dylan had fun coloring and doing the other activities on the baking map. When the cupcakes were finished, Dylan did not want to wait for them to cool! I had to distract him with helping me make the frosting. Once the cupcakes were frosted, Dylan enjoyed his cupcake. They turned out great and tasted fantastic. We had a great time doing something fun together.

Here's how Zebra Mix got it's start:
"As parents, we are continually looking for ways to let our kids learn through exploration. We try to tap into their curiosity and provide experiences around their interests. Experiences that build confidence, support risk taking and are easy for us, time strapped parents, to pull off.
Like most kids, our girls love to bake, but somehow having sugar and flour on hand and dealing with the mess was more than a working mom could handle. And traditional baking mixes just didn’t offer the learning we were after and they were full of evil ingredients.
So, we began cooking up Zebra Mix, baking kits that let kids be the hero in the kitchen without turning it into a zoo for parents.
We quickly realized that baking was a touch point for math, science and reading and an opportunity to teach important life skills, critical thinking and exercise creativity. After all, when does a child get to manage an entire project from start to finish!

After two years of perfecting our recipe, developing our language and graphics for kids, and testing our products with consumers, Zebra Mix is everything we want it to be, a brand that brings out the best in kids, addresses the core values of parents and is committed to the environment and making a superior product. We hope you love Zebra Mix as much as we do!"

Zebra Mix is not only a fun activity to do with your child but the kits are made from organic ingredients with nothing artificial. The Zebra Mix kits offer more than just a baking experience...the baking maps offer puzzles, mazes, games, facts and more. I would recommend this baking kit to anyone with children. Zebra Mix will provide a fun and educational activity to do with your child.

What I like about the kits. It seems easy for a child to read the directions. So a child could be the "chef". And Mom or Dad could be the "helper". This is a great way to build confidence in a child.
