Having a daughter is one of the things I have always wanted in life...someone I could share "girly" things with like shopping, pedicures, dressing up and dancing. I was given the opportunity to review a newly released DVD titled Prima Princessa presents Swan Lake. I was very excited to watch this DVD. I grew up loving to watch dancing of all kinds and could often be seen dancing around my house. This DVD is unlike anything I've seen before. It was created by two moms, Stephanie Troeller and Mary Kate Mellow, who wanted to present ballet to their daughters in a way they would understand. This DVD teaches "classical ballet through nature, toys, music, and laughter." This DVD is broken into four sections, each section being an Act from Swan Lake. The ballet is performed by the Paris Opera Ballet and narrated by the cute, animated Prima Princessa. After each Act, a simple ballet step is introduced and it encourages audience participation.

My 8 month old, Miss Maddie (dressed in her tu-tu), and I watched this DVD together. I immediately fell in love and I think Miss Maddie enjoyed it, too. I can't wait for Miss Maddie to watch this as she grows up. I would recommend this DVD to anyone with a daughter. The simple and magical way this DVD presents Swan Lake will awaken the little girl in us all. This will be one DVD that will be in my daughter's collection for a very long time.
